BRYAN -- The Williams Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) annual meeting and banquet will be held Nov. 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the Edon Community Center, Edon. The election and registration begins at 5:30 p.m. J.B. Orendorff will once again act as master of ceremonies. A family-style dinner prepared by Chubbies will be served. The menu includes roast pork and beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetable, gelatin and pie. The evening's entertainment will be Melissa Hart, Truth From the Trenches writer and motivational speaker. Hart is a fifth generation farm wife and mother of four. She and her husband, Bobby, reside in North Adams where they have a herd of registered Holsteins. Using her agricultural communications degree from Michigan State University, she is a motivational speaker and freelance writer for several publications including the Farmers' Advance, Holstein International, Farmworld, Equine Times, and Grass and Grains of Kansas among others. The evening will also feature the election of two SWCD supervisors, the presentation of the SWCD Outstanding Cooperator award, CREP award, highlights from the past year and door prizes. Candidates in this year's special election are Jon Hake, Bob Short and Bob Stark. The election will take place from 5:30-6:30 p.m. that evening or call the office for information on receiving an absentee ballot. Dinner tickets can be purchased from the Williams SWCD office at 1120 W. High St. Reservations must be received by Nov. 14.
