By JACK PALMER WILLIAMS CENTER -- When Pastor James Adams wanted to start a food pantry, he knew the right person for the job. Adams, who founded Restoration Fellowship Church a decade ago, called Millie McCague. "He knew I ran the God's Lighthouse food pantry near Ayersville before that church closed," said McCague, who joined the rural Williams Center church a few months ago. "Feeding the hungry is part of the call God put on my heart several years ago." The pantry is open every Tuesday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. It is free to everyone, regardless of their county of residence. "Alms to the poor is a vital part of our ministry here," said Adams. "The food pantry is a natural extension of that." The church is located west of Williams Center and just north of State Route 2 at 10643 County Road A (Defiance-Williams County Line Road). "I love to feed people," said McCague. "It's part of spreading the gospel. You meet their physical needs and this helps with their spiritual needs." McCague acknowledged that the area needs are great, especially given the current economic climate. "We give something to everybody who shows up," she said. "If they need to come back every week, that's okay. The people are very appreciative." Restoration Fellowship Church holds Sunday services at 10:15 a.m. and 6 p.m., while Sunday School for all ages is held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday night activities include separate meetings at 7 p.m. for children, teens, young adults (18-35) and older adults. For church information, call Adams at 419-658-8136 or 658-4460. For more information about the pantry, call McCague at 419-658-8817. Comments
